How to preserve the color of clothes

Don't you love it when your favourite t-shirt, sweatshirt or skirt gradually loses its original shade? You can significantly slow down the colour change so that you can enjoy them for as long as possible. We'll advise you on how to wash your clothes properly and in what condition to preserve their colour.

Sort dark, coloured and light

The first principle to help you preserve the colour of your clothes is to sort them before washing. White pieces should be put in the washing machine separately. Otherwise, you could easily end up taking them out with a tinge of colour from other clothes or even stains.

You can put black and dark colours in the wash together. Clothes in paler shades too. Washing the same colours together helps prevent both unwanted staining and loss of colour. Turning clothes inside out also helps to protect the colours. One of the many benefits of Giovani® laundry perfumes is that they help to keep clothes vibrant and fade-free.

Check labels

The labels on your clothes will also tell you a lot about how to wash them. They'll tell you if you can put it in the washing machine and what temperature you should choose. By sticking to the recommended temperature, you'll prevent colour fading and unwanted shape changes. Generally, higher temperatures are suitable for cotton, lower temperatures for washing synthetics and softer materials. You will then select the washing programme accordingly.

Pleasant-smelling laundry not only after you take it out of the washing machine, but also after it has been in your wardrobe for a long time. That's a goal every housewife wants to achieve. In addition to the right detergent, temperature and washing method, you also need to add a suitable detergent as a replacement for fabric softener, which not only takes care of the colour of your clothes, but also of the scent that lasts. For an intense and long-lasting scent, Giovani® laundry perfumes are the way to go.

They are made from concentrated fragrance essences. Thanks to their high content, your laundry will retain its acquired fragrance even after drying your clothes in the dryer. The perfume is then released into a huge amount of water at a suitable temperature and is washed usually for more than an hour with 4 kg of laundry. In the washing machine the perfume dissolves very well and quickly. Therefore, no residue or stains are left behind. Laundry perfumes are suitable for all types of fabrics. Their small amount when used does not pollute the washing machine and helps the colour of your clothes.

Remember, however, that some garments need to be rid of odours, bacteria or stains and to do this you need to use a higher temperature when washing. These are usually towels or bed linen.

How often to wash

How often we should wash depends on several factors such as the type of clothes, activities and personal preferences. Underwear, socks, swimsuits and workout clothes need to be washed after every use. Bed linen should be washed once a week and towels after the 3rd-4th. Towels should be used between the 4th and 4th use. Jeans, shorts and trousers should be washed less frequently. The interval is approximately every 3-4 uses, it is important to pay attention to the material and wear of the fabrics. Seasonal clothing such as coats, hats, scarves and gloves do not need to be washed more than every few weeks or after the season is over. The most important thing to remember is that sweat plays an important role, because if you sweat more, you should wash more often.
