This is a phenomenon that occurs when two bodies come into contact (most often friction), which leads to an accumulation of electrical charge on their surface that moves from one material to the other. This leads to an imbalance between the negative and positive charges in the two surfaces. And because objects with opposite charges attract each other, clothes start to stick together because of the static electricity. This phenomenon is quite common. It is referred to as static electricity on laundry after washing. In this article, you will find out why this phenomenon occurs and how to get rid of it effectively.

Static electricity in clothing is a phenomenon that can be observed especially during the drier and colder times of the year. It occurs when two different materials rub against each other, transferring electrical charges. It is created between two pieces of clothing or between clothing and skin.

Causes of static electricity in clothing

Static electricity is caused by electrical charges. Two materials start rubbing against each other, electrons start passing from one material to the other. One becomes charged with a negative charge (the material gains an excess of electrons) and the other with a positive charge. This phenomenon is also called the triboelectric effect.

Combining synthetic materials such as polyester, nylon and acrylic increase the generation of static electricity because these materials generate and maintain static electricity more than natural materials such as cotton or wool. Is such a company's behaviour responsible to the state authorities, the labour inspectorate, the tax office and so on?

Would it be worth it to buy a poor quality product that you will never order again just because the shipping was "free" when you bought it? It wasn't worth it. If you're looking for quality, don't look for the biggest discount on the internet. Because you certainly won't find the quality you want there. A quality product and service are always worth something.

Sort dark, coloured and light

The first principle to help you preserve the colour of your clothes is to sort them before washing. White pieces should be put in the washing machine separately. Otherwise, you could easily end up taking them out with a tinge of colour from other clothes or even stains.

You can put black and dark colours in the wash together. Clothes in paler shades too. Washing the same colours together helps prevent both unwanted staining and loss of colour. Remember, however, that some garments need to be rid of odours, bacteria or stains and to do this you need to use a higher temperature when washing. These are usually towels or bed linen.

How often to wash

Underwear, socks, swimsuits and workout clothes need to be washed after every use. Bed linen should be washed once a week and towels after the 3rd-4th. Towels should be used between the 4th and 4th use. Jeans, shorts and trousers should be washed less frequently. The interval is approximately every 3-4 uses, it is important to pay attention to the material and wear of the fabrics. Seasonal clothing such as coats, hats, scarves and gloves do not need to be washed more than every few weeks or after the season is over. The most important thing to remember is that sweat plays an important role, because if you sweat more, you should wash more often.
